City & Guilds Installation and Maintenance Electrician – Experienced Worker Entrance Test – 2346-04
Experienced Worker Assessment Entry Test
We are pleased to announce that we are now providing the new 2346-04 EWA entry test for City and Guilds.
This is an online assessment created for experienced electricians who do not hold the required underpinning technical qualification to progress onto the Experienced Worker Assessment route without completing a Level 2 qualification.

Overview
This test is only for candidates who can provide evidence that they hold sufficient underpinning technical knowledge and understanding to gain entry onto the 2346-03 Experienced Worker Qualification with a minimum of 10 years of experience. The test will focus on the following elements:
· Legislation applies in the workplace.
· Procedures for establishing a safe working environment.
· Identifying and dealing with hazards in the work environment.
· Preparing for the installation of wiring systems.
· Practices and procedures for carrying out electrical work.
· Characteristics and applications of supply systems and consumers’ equipment.
· Earthing and protection.
· Relationship between resistance, resistivity, voltage, current and power.
· How different electrical properties can affect electrical circuits, systems and equipment.
· Operating principles of electrical components.
· Application of wiring systems.
· Electrical systems and circuits.
· Electrical design procedure.
· Completing the safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations.
Requirements
The test also requires the application of BS 7671 and the use of the IET On-Site Guide to ensure installations meet safety and regulatory standards.
Once you have been successful in this test, you will be able to enrol on the City and Guilds 2346 Experienced Worker NVQ. There is a 6-month timescale after passing this test to enrol on the course.
