Parliament, democracy and apprenticeships, a visit to The Electrical Academy

We welcomed Kerrie Carpenter, Senior Outreach Officer for UK Parliament (South East region), to speak with our apprentices about Parliament, voting, democracy and British Values. The session gave learners a clearer understanding of how the system works and why participation matters, especially for those starting their working lives.

Connecting education with real life

For apprentices, learning isn’t only about practical electrical skills. It’s also about developing confidence, communication and an understanding of the world they work in. Visits like this help broaden perspective and encourage questions that often do not come up in day-to-day training.

Showcasing independent apprenticeship provision

We also welcomed Helen Whately MP, who toured our facilities and met the team to learn more about the electrical industry and the role independent apprenticeship providers play. We shared how we support learners to build practical competence, professional habits, and confidence as they progress through their apprenticeship.

A sincere thank you to everyone who took the time to visit, speak with our apprentices, and engage with what modern electrical apprenticeship training looks like at The Electrical Academy.
