Many people assume that the new course will contain lots of extra content, however in reality it will remain very similar to the old 17th Edition courses with some changes. The wiring regulations courses are not designed to teach you every regulation in the book but are more focussed on how to reference the latest regulations as you would whilst at work.

Topics currently covered on the course will still be included:

  • Scope, object and fundamental principles
  • Definitions
  • Assessment of general characteristics
  • Protection for safety
  • Selection and erection of equipment
  • Inspection and testing
  • Special installations or locations
  • Appendices

Changes to the 18th Edition are as follows:

  • Protection against overvoltage’s – Clause 443 is likely to be Changed.
  • Protection against fire – Chapter 42 will be updated with extra information on arc fault detection
  • Electrical Embedded heating – Section 753 will be extended to include embedded electrical heating systems for surface heating and will include de-icing and frost prevention systems.
  • Energy efficiency – This is an entirely new section

The above course will only give you a working knowledge of the regulations, it will not teach you the ins and outs of every chapter. It will teach you how to reference your book in relation to situations you will face within the workplace.
